President Buhari Commisions a new Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) III, built locally at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Lagos, exclusively by Nigerian Navy engineers.

Today in Lagos I commissioned NNS Oji, a new Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) III, built locally at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Lagos, exclusively by Nigerian Navy engineers.
It is yet another manifestation of the success of our local content policy.
NNS Oji is the third SDB to be locally built at the Naval Dockyard Limited, after NNS Adoni, and NNS Karaduwa, which I commissioned in 2016.
In addition to the commissioning, I also performed the keel-laying ceremony for the construction of the next set of SDBs: Boat-IV and Boat-V; as well as formally inaugurated some recently acquired platforms in the Naval fleet, including NNS LANA, KANO, IKENNE, ABA, SOKOTO and OSUN.
I am pleased to note that our administration is responsible for the biggest fleet renewal effort the Nigerian Navy has seen in decades.

Earlier this year the Service took delivery of NNS LANA, our Navy’s first-ever purpose-built Offshore Survey Vessel, constructed by Messrs OCEA Shipyard of France.
A contract was also recently signed with Messrs Dearsan Shipyard Limited of Turkey, for the delivery of two brand new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs).
I applaud the Navy’s efforts in the fight against maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea region. I commend the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo, and all the officers, ratings and civilian staff of the Navy for all their remarkable achievements, and urge them to continue to do more.
Our administration is very determined to ensure that the Navy is well supported to achieve its statutory responsibilities. The Federal Government under my watch will continue to support the ideals of the Nigerian Navy in the performance of its constitutional duties.
God bless the Nigerian Navy, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Onward Together.

EMWENYI 2023: PROF ODE EMMANUEL'S SCORECARD IN IGEDE

As 2023 general elections in Nigeria draw near with each passing day, politicians aspiring for one office or the other have begun to put in place all kinds of strategies to win the heart of the people to vote for them in the elections. Interestingly, in this 21st century that people are highly informed, many of the politicians find it extremely hard to sell themselves out to the people because tthey cannot point to any tangible project they initiated to affect the society positively either tthrough private initiatives or public offices. The normal question now 'What are your antecedents?" In Igede today, the eminent Prof Ode Emmanuel Egbe is a household name as a result of the so many people oriented projects he has done in the land through private means. As 2023 elections are around the corner, the well-meaning Igede sons and daughters, both home and abroad, have called on him to come home and contest for the 2023 election for the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency. The people's belief in him is hinged on his antecedents. There is no doubts in their minds that if he could do the much he has done for the people with his hard-earned money, he would do much more than can be imagined when in government. The erudite scholar has offered himself to serve his people by recently declaring his interest to run for the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The following are some of the things that Prof Ode Emmanuel did for Igede people that make him the right choice for the job:
* Scholarship grants to 50 Benue State Students through Honourable Inalegu in 2016 (this was for both home and abroad)
* Scholarship grants to 20 Igede Students through Omi Ny'Igede, Oyo State, 2010
* Scholarship to another 20 Igede Students in 2012
* Facilitating the admissions of hundreds of Igede Students into different universities in Nigeria.
* Free surgical operations and free medicare for over 3000 Igede people between 2017 2021 through Ode Emmanuel Medical Services
* Scholarship grants to 218 Students through the Ode Emmanuel Foundation between 2018/2019
* Registration of over 200 Students for GCE O/level and A/level in Igede land between 2018 2021
* Subsidizing of the Public Health Practitioners Council of Nigeria professional examination fee for all Igede students
* Half tuition Scholarship for all Igede students studying at Edexcel University, Benin Republic from 2015 till date
* Employment of over 58 Igede indigenes in his various establishments
* Job lobbying for Igede indigenes
* Facilitating of employment for 12 Igede indigenes into the Oyo State Teaching Service commission.
* Facilitating of another 30 Igede indigenes into AMOTEKUN security outfit in Oyo State.
* Establishment of Ode Emmanuel Medical Hospital in Oju
* Establishment of Academy of Medical Health and Education, Oju
* Establishment of the Proposed Ode Emmanuel University, Oju
* Bringing of O/level and A/level GCE examination centre to Oju
* Establishment of the proposed Edexcel College of Education, Obi
With these landmark achievements, it is clear to everyone that if Prof Ode Emmanuel is given the opportunity to serve the Igede people in the House of Representatives come 2023, he will definitely use the office to bring the needed transformation to Igedeland.

Hope for the people
