Local Issue: MORE STORIES CONCERNING BSU STRIKE!!!!

CONCERNING BSU STRIKE!!!!
By
 Eberenna Joel Chinagorom

The Lecturers have complained that the issues they have with the Government is not leading to a green light, which has facilitated the need for an Indefinite Strike.
The Lecturers pleads that they do not enjoy some benefits which are enjoyed in other places.

1) HEALTH INSURANCE : The Government in any way has not provided any form of Health Insurance for the Lecturers which means that the Government do not have the interest of the Lecturers at heart with regards to their well being.

2) PENSION : It is however displeasing to know that these Lecturers do not enjoy any pension plan which is supposed to be enjoyed upon retirement which means that the Government wishes them death before they reach the age of retiring.

3) OVER TAXATION : Despite the unfavorable situations met by these lecturers, they pay heavy taxes which are not even remitted to the BIRS. A Source which claims She went to the revenue house to register her plot of land was shocked to hear that She was owing tax of about three years which She began working with the University, meanwhile she receives the report of the heavy taxes. Another Source claims that He pays 34,940 as tax, meanwhile there is no benefit derived upon retirement and other logistics.

4)POOR REMUNERATION AND TOO MANY STUDENTS TO TEACH : The Lecturers complain of having too much students which makes the job a tedious one and affects them greatly. They say that with so many Students, it makes Student evaluation so tiring and stressful and they aren't even cared for. A lecturer claims that he sits on plastic chairs as an assistant lecturer in his office which he shares with many others, where people with little qualifications in other organizations sits in spinning chairs.

5) The ASUU Chairman however is said to belong to the BSU Council, which the Lecturers feel is not appropriate, because the Chairman is supposed to be agitating for their well being but with His involvement in the Council, it could lead to boycotting of some activities which would be best for the Lecturers.
This is however bad for the Highest institution of learning.

THE UNENDING TRAVAIL OF OJU APC CHAIRMANSHIP PRIMARY .
By Otor Jackson Ogbu

If the Radio announcements are anything to be relied upon , many would have expected that all may have been settled about the Oju APC Chairmanship Primary with Austin Okwoche as the standard flag bearer for APC but the setting up of the LG Appeal committee to hear petitions arising from the primary maybe proving book makers wrong that all is not yet over . The Austin Okwoche camp are becoming jittery as there are rumors making the rounds that the controversial result of the 20th , April , 2017 primary may have been altered again before the Appeal Committee .

Breaking News: See real reasons why BSU ASUU went on indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Benue State University branch this afternoon proceeded on an indefinite strike. The strike which started hours ago will go down in history as one of the many union struggles by ASUU in demands for their allowances and other unpaid benefits.

The Vice Chancellor of the University who also attended the meeting, persuaded members to be patient as all is been put together to see to it that issues raised by Members will be addressed soonest, however members of the congress objected to this plea saying they prefer to stay at home till the issues regarding their welfare and favourable working conditions are addressed,

Suicide Attempt: Govt. Dragged For Failing To Charge Teebillz To Court

Popular social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has questioned the morality of charging a woman who tried to take her own life due to choking debts while a wealthy celebrity like Tunji Balogun (Teebillz) husband of popular singer, Tiwa Savage was not charged for also attempting suicide.
It will be recalled that last month, one Mrs. Taiwo Titilayo Momoh, a 51-year old textile dealer at Balogun Market, was rescued after jumping into Lagos Lagoon in a suicide attempt. She has since been arraigned by the Police and charged by a magistrate court for attempted suicide with her bail set at N500, 000.

Man comes home to find his girlfriend sleeping in bed with another man, takes selfies with them and posts online (photos)

Duston Holloway, 23, from Texas arrived home one evening to find his beloved girlfriend, lying drunk in bed with another man. He couldn't believe his eyes, the heartbreak was unimaginable but instead of reacting by shouting or fighting like other men might do, he rather carried out sweet revenge, by taking selfies with the sleeping pair and posted it online.

He posted the pictures on his Facebook with the caption: “When you come home to another man in your bed with the one you loved! Good men deserve good women.”

The photos elicited good reactions from his followers especially women who praised him for his actions, and told him that he'll get the right woman who will love him and value him dearly.

Duston also revealed on Facebook that he wanted to “kick” the stranger’s “a**” but decided to act as a boss.

“But I calmly just took selfies and walked like a boss lol. I did tap her to wake her up but she was drunk as a skunk passed out.

“I was gonna ask if I was gonna have to sleep in the spare bedroom and what kinda breakfast the dude liked lmao.”

Nigerian ex-Internationals, Nwankwo Kanu(Papilo); Peter Rufai(Dodo Mayana); Daniel Amokachi (Da Bull); Celestine Babayaro (Tanborime Boy); Yakubu Aiyegbeni and a few others are in Otukpo for a novelty football match finals which holds by 4pm today at Jesus College, Otukpo: hosted by Barr. Paul Edeh in conjunction with the Sole Administrator for Otukpo Local Government, Hon. George Alli.
Good move I dare say, highly commendable. Putting Otukpo on the spotlight for possible promotions of her budding talents and abounding potential is essential in many respect. If you don't promote whatever you have, you never can tell who will be interested.

BBnaija finalists campaign for votes, they all shared heart breaking stories that will make you cry

Marvis took a more funny approach in her speech saying she needs to win because W.I.N is in her body. she described herself as a go getter and has accomplished things she thought she would never have. She used the pidgin english to give most of her speech
My people, I die put, i cry put, even times when i dey form honesty, I lie put. So abeg, pick me, no pick me like nose wey you fit throwaway but pick like beans so i fit stay so i go fit win.
Debbie Rise who was the last to speak said she didn't have her  family's blessing to come on the show but she ran away from home not because she wants to be rebellious but because she wants to be an example to everyone to chase their dreams at all cost.

The top 5 finalists in the Big Brother Naija reality show competition were asked by Big Brother to give speeches telling the public why they should vote for them. They were given only 40 minutes to get dressed and prepare for the speech.

While speaking, Efe who is from Delta state was almost in tears as he recounted how he had to work hard in order to survive.
He defined his name stating that An Efe is anybody working hard to make it in life
Who is Efe ? Efe is that boy from Delta state. Efe is that graduate of economics in unijos!!! No!!!! Efe is you that is trying to get yourself together. Efe is that mother that sacrificed everything to make sure her child gets an education. Efe is that boy that helps his mum to sell pepper but knows in his heart that he will get better.. Efe is you, using generator to watch tv, read, .... Efe is you trying to put your two feets on the ground against all odds  Because rain is falling doesn't mean you won't go and hustle  Because the road is bad doesn't mean you won't go out..
Bisola during her speech thanked everybody who has voted and is till voting for her, she revealed that she didn't go to the University due to financial constraints and sometimes feel insecure when other talk about their university days. She talked about growing up, saying that even though her name means 'born into wealth', that hasn't been the case for her.

"I usually have a complex but i don't let that complex take over situations and me. I have never being in the university before. I'm not a graduate. So sometimes i feel envious when I hear people or  the housemates talk about what they did in school. It wasn't because I wasn't intelligent enough to be in the university but because I didn't have the fund to do so. I still struggled and told my self, you know what Bisola you have a talent which can feed you. You should not let the circumstance you find yourself throw you down"
Tboss, while giving her speech said she came into the house a princess but is leaving as a queen and she's saying it in all humility.  She thanked everybody who voted for her till now. She revealed she has no idea why they kept saving her and suggested it was because they probably saw beneath her piercings and tattoos.
"In all sense of humility, I'm a princess, I came into this house a boss lady. The truth is, right now I stand before you all a queen because I feel like I have grown. I came here thinking I was amazing and I'm taking this money home. Then I got stocked up with these people who are different from me, their orientation, upbringing and everything but I struggled and made it to top 5. I want to say I did this myself. People out there kept me here. I want to say thank you to them for investing in me"

"I ran away from home to be here because there was something I believed in. I wanted to be more than the usual and not just for myself. I wanted to be able bridge the gap and meet people at the point of their needs. I ran away from home not because I wanted to be rebellious but because we have a standard and doctrines and principles and I was scared to be alone. I want just want to prove a point that this career, this passion that I have to be an inspiration and a sense of motivation to girls."

Controversy Trails Death Of Naval Commander Ikoli – Penciled For Naval Chief Position

There are reports of possible assassination in the death of fleet commander of the Western Naval Command, Nigerian Navy, Teikumo Ikoli. Ikolu was found dead in his Lagos home, on Wednesday, the Navy had said, adding that “the cause of Ikoli’s death had not been known, but investigation has commenced. “In the early hours of Wednesday April 5, 2017, gunshots were heard in the vicinity where Rear Admiral Teikumo Daniel Ikoli resides in Apapa, Lagos,” Spokeswoman for the Western Naval Command, Chinwe Umar, said in a statement.
Greennews.ng gathered that the Rear Admiral was found in his apartment with a bullet launched into his heart, stone dead. It is unclear if he shot himself or he was shot by someone else.
His children school abroad, while his wife was said be in Abuja when the incident happened. His orderly and Naval Assistant (NA), according to sources, usually goes home after dropping him. “The bullet hit him on the chest. Three bullets were seen in his room. No one can really tell what happened but the position he was seen suggested he might have been scared of something or someone, close aide told The Guardian.

The aide added; “He was a nice and intelligent officer. He was the one who spearheaded the renovations at BEECROFT when he was commander. It’s really a sad news.” While attempt to unravel the cause of his mysterious death is ongoing, it has emerged that Ikoli who recently earned a special promotion to his present rank from Commodore to Rear Admiral, may have been assassinated.
Ikoli who is loved by President Buhari, was appointed to serve on the arms deal probe panel – a panel that has opened a can of worms on the mismanagement of funds meant for weapons purchase – now dubbed the infamous Dasukigate scandal.

The respected Naval commander was also said to have been penciled down by the Presidency as the next Chief of Naval Staff. “He really complimented President Buhari on his anti-corruption war and I think that was why he was appointed to serve on the arms deal probe panel. He was in the running to emerge chief of naval staff, some officers have told NAN.

Quoting authoritative sources at the command, NAN reports that Ikoli may have been assassinated as he had no cause to kill himself. “Ikoli has been penciled down by the President as the next Chief of Naval Staff; he recently earned a special promotion to his present rank from Commodore,” a source told NAN on Friday in Lagos. “He was on the panel probing arms deal which also affects the Armed Forces, including the Navy.

“Ikoli was a disciplined, gentle, straightforward and honest man, who had no regard for protocol. It is nothing but a murder case.”

The source also said that because of his performance as the commander, NNS Beecroft, he was loved by all officers and the junior ones.
He said: “Ikoli transformed the place by introducing smart I.D. cards and increasing special duty allowance from N4, 000 to N12, 000.

“Everybody is aware that he was an introvert, but he made sure that things worked properly and he had respect for all and zero tolerance for corruption.
“He really complimented President Buhari on his anti-corruption war and I think that was why he was appointed to serve on the arms deal probe panel.
“His elevation as the next Chief of Naval Staff would have been announced if not for the president’s trip to London for medical checkup.”

Another officer, who said he worked with him, also told NAN that the late Ikoli was an easy going man who did not believe in bothering people.
“At the close of work, he usually allows his aides to go home and stay with their families. In most cases, he will be the one to open the gate of his residence for visitors using a remote control.

“The officer would not have killed himself; it is pure case of assassination. There is a mystery surrounding his death; for instance, the two ambulances they brought to take him to the mortuary refused to move. “It was when they brought his service car and transferred the body into it that they were able to take his corpse to the morgue,” he said Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command Thursday said it had begun a holistic investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ikoli and will conduct autopsy on his corpse.

Breaking News: Hon Samson Okwu in Adultery Scandal

Source: By Adah Ocholi
Benue News. com

Member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency in the Federal House of representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Samson Okwu has been engulf in an alleged affair with the wife of one Agbo Samuel, a soldier serving at Akwa Ibom state.

It was gathered that the soldier who also hails from Obi local government as the reps member was suspicious that his wife may have been involved in illicit affairs when he was away.

On an unannounced visit, he discovered his wife, Joyce (nee Okwe) had been away for some days and was also told she was spotted at the house of Hon Samson Okwu days earlier.

According to reports, on Saturday 4th March, the soldier in the company of his uncle, one Alex Ojeka went to Hon Samson Okwu’s house where he confirmed his wife had been staying there, and after a hot exchange, the lawmaker, accepted that he was sexually involved with the woman but pleaded for the matter to be kept under wraps.

Unsatisfied, it was learnt that the soldier has reported the matter to the Obarike-Ito police station, but is under pressure to withdraw the case for settlement out of the limelight.

When asked over the matter, the Benue state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu said he was yet to get details but promised to return with more information.

Efforts to contact the lawmaker for his own side of the story proved abortive.

enemies of Igede people suffered a serious setback yesterday in a meeting called by His Excellency, Gov Ortom with all the Chiefs from IGEDE in Govt House, Makurdi.

The enterprise of the home department of the enemies of Igede people suffered a serious setback yesterday in a meeting called by His Excellency, Gov Ortom with all the Chiefs from IGEDE in Govt House, Makurdi.

How can a very senior traditional ruler from Oju suggest to the Governor of Benue State openly that the Adirahu Igede selection should be held in Govt House in Makurdi. Hahahahahahahahahahahhhahahahahahaha....... The Governor, in his wisdom turned it down, saying, Makurdi is not one of the places in IGEDE Kingdom. His Excellency further stated that the Chief should remember, this is not political parties' primary election ooooooooo.

His Excellency told the crowd that never again should they take serious any of their sons who goes to tell them in the villages that so, so and so person is govt candidates oooooo. He, however, acknowledged Prof Johnson Ona's role during his campaign days but reiterated it will be most ungodly for him to side one person in a contest against his blood brother while still on seat as Governor who should be father of all.

The Governor assured all IGEDE Chiefs at the meeting to feel free in selecting whoever they may choose as their King. Your Uncle, Benson was there with his lie, lie boys. His Excellency threw Moses Enenche's report into the dust bin just as he Cancelled the manipulated Uwokwu District third class selection that produced Chief Okponya of Okpokpo. The Governor berated some Igede leaders for indulging in lies and propaganda here and there, intimidating people with "The Governor Said" theory as if they are the only ones that do see His Excellency.

Dear Reader, so you should ask yourself now? Why are some people so desperate to be made Chief? How can a very senior chief chooses to bastardize our tradition because he wants a particular candidate, whom they have anointed with Ikpoto to get to the throne at all cost? The over fourth Chiefs that were in the hall when the senior chief made that satanic suggestion, shouted him down in protest against that idea.

All we are saying, let IGEDE people be given the opportunity to choose whoever they like freely. And the process must be done in Igede. That's all. Whoever wins wouldn't matter to us but the transparency of the process is everything to all right thinking people of IGEDE Kingdom. You see, some of our political leaders can lie more than Satan himself oooooo.
