ALOCHU FOUNDATION EMPOWERS 66 WIDOWS
A speech by Chief Frank Alochu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Alochu Foundation on the occasion of the empowerment of 66 Igede widows on Friday, January 27, 2017
PROTOCOLS
I consider today a special day in my life and a privilege to welcome our distinguished, special guests and all of you who have despite your busy schedules, taken time off to be here.
Today, we give thanks to Almighty God that He has made it possible for Alochu Foundation to empower some widows in our midst, and that is the very reason we are gathered here.
Alochu Foundation is a non-profit, but charity organization for the upliftING of the downtrodden and generally the less privileged in our society.
At this juncture, it is pertinent to emphasis that the foundation is neither a government nor does it have a political inclination in all of its activities; but purely a humanitarian outfit. more pictures and stories after the cut

In the past few years, this organization had in silence tried in its little way to put smiles on the forlon faces of some indigent students in terms of scholarship award, as well as payment of school fees for others who would have otherwise dropped out of schools on account of poverty.
The foundation has also striven to provide sources of water supply and electricity for some communities in Ukpa and Obachita in particular, to mention but only a few, as the Spirit of God had led me.
My philosophy behind what I am doing is simple and in line with the Scripture that says God blessed Abraham to be a blessing to others.
Again, looking at the level of neglect of not just the poor parents and their wards in schools and widows, but the general lack of development of Igedeland, I feel no man who is blessed and with a blood of human kindness running in him can afford to ignore the grisly Igede plight.
No one tree, it is said, can make a forest. It is the need for us to come together, unite, forge a common front to be able to tackle our common problem in Igedeland that has also brought about calling all of you to witness today's empowerment of 59 widows under the empowerment programme of the foundation.
Doing so, I believe we can rub minds together just as it is hoped the exercise will throw up a good challenge to relevant agencies, individuals and governmental bodies to wake up to their responsibility of making our society and life worth living.
It is not a showmanship of any kind, neither does the unprecedented publicity the foundation in recent times enjoyed has anything to do with politics, as it is important to make it clear.
This year, the foundation's focus is on widows whose lives particularly have been blighted not just by penury, but by the adverse effect of the national economic depression that is taking toll on the have-not, especially the widows who have no one to take care of them.
Today, the foundation is empowering a carefully selected 66 widows drawn out of all the council wards in Oju and Obi LGAs, with the hope that as the organisation grows in leap and bound with a support of individuals, donor organisations, same succour will be extended to more widows the next time, even as we pray not to have more widows in our midst.
It is my sincere advice to the benefitting widows that they should apply the little cash empowerment of N25, 000 each from Alochu Foundation to petty businesses as possible.
I wish to use this opportunity to appeal to Igede politicians, individuals and organisations as well as well-to-do businessmen and women to unite, support the cause of humanity, so we can together develop Igedeland.
God bless you all and thanks for coming.
Chief Frank Alochu
Odochu 1 of Ukpa
