By James Ibechi
The establishment of Alochu Foundation in Oju LGA of Benue State has been a source of immense blessing to the rural poor, widows and indigent students as well as orphans in the area.alochu-foundation-signboardread more after the cut..........................................

Last year, many students benefited fabulously from the scholarship scheme of the foundation.
Though the scope was limited to needy students from only across the council wards of Oju LGA, the charity programme has been broadened since then to cover the entire Igedeland and beyond.
This year, the focus is on the forlorn widows who are suffering abject poverty in Oju and Obi LGAs, with the hope that it will expand in that direction, by next year.
Director Administration, Comr. Andyson Iji Egbodo who conveyed the founder’s message disclosed that N1.3m has been earmarked to be given to 53 widow beneficiaries, to help alleviate poverty in the area.
The widows, two each, will be drawn from across all the council wards in Oju and Obi LGAs.
The board of directors recently inaugurated was therefore mandated to carry out nomination of the beneficiaries, subject to verification by a special verification team.
According to the founder, Chief Frank Alochu, the scheme is borne out of his desire to give back to the society that bred him, adding that for now, he was the sole financier of the foundation.
Meanwhile, the board is to meet on Tuesday next week to conclude arrangements and to fix a date for the event in which the monies will be disbursed to the widows.
