Agatu Land Deal: "Conspiracy Against The People"

PRESS RELEASE:
Agatu Land Deal: "Conspiracy Against The People"
Source : Naijavoice.com / NAIJAVOICEWEB.COM

News available has it that an agreement had been reached between the Agatu people of Benue state and the fulani's herdsmen of Nassarwa state which saw Adepati Island ceded to fulani herdsman for the purpose of grazing. The agreement was reported to have been signed by leaders from both sides, it is important to note that Agatu does not exist independent of the Idoma nation and it is also pertinent to note that Agatu is strategic to the Idoma land in particular and Benue State at large considering the geographic location and its rich mineral and human resources.
No one needs a service of a prophet to understand that a state backed occupation of Agatu land by fulani's is a threat to the already abysmal security in Agatu and by extension Benue state, we have not forgotten the obnoxious invasion of Agatu land by herdsmen that led to the insidious decimation of the populace around the axis.

We also have not forgotten that the displaced people affected by the crisis have not been properly rehabilitated, compensated or even pacified; thus a hasty move that can be seen as advantageous to the perpetrators of this attack or their cronies cast doubt on the sincerity of any authority over seeing such agreement, it is good to note that federalism as practiced in Nigeria is to foster unity among the people and that no one is against anyone doing legitimate business in any part of the country but everything is wrong in forcefully taking away land from people and giving it to others especially a group who have continuously waged war against the Agatu people and remain a threat to them, the Idoma nation and Benue at large.
No right thinking Agatu man will sign such agreement, except under duress, it is important that the Benue state Goverment be reminded of the duty to protect the lives and property of the Benue people and as such should not encourage, engage or be party to any act that is detrimental to the much sought peace in the state. It is on this note that I'm urging the governor who is the chief security officer of the state, the deputy governor who is an Idoma man and all well meaning Benue people to jettison the temptation of offending history, the soul of the departed, victims of the crisis and the Benue community by either subscribing, encouraging or advocating such agreement. The Benue people with conscience are watching, generation yet unborn are stirring from the beyond, today is the mother of tomorrow.
I want to urge all Idoma Students, and Benue youths to be peaceful in the rejection of this move! It is my promise to investigate and engage relevant persons in dialogue and together we shall come out of this Victorious.
God bless us all.
Signed:
Comr. Abah Owoicho Abah
National President Elect (NAIS Worldwide)
